My approach

Mental health is important for our quality of life. Considering the many areas of life that make up mental functioning, it is not surprising that more than half of all people suffer from a mental illness at least once in their lives. Interpersonal areas, such as partnerships, friendships and the perceived connection to the environment, also play an important role. I therefore always work with a sensitivity for both inner-psychic and interpersonal difficulties.

 
 

The practice

The practice is easily accessible in an old villa in Lichterfelde, in the south of Berlin. Here you can find a place for privacy, appreciation and empathy. It is also possible to use online consultation to a limited extent.

My work philosophy

Psychotherapy is a scientifically very well proven method to decrease different forms of psychological complaints and to cure mental disorders. At the same time, there is still a great deal that we do not fully understand yet. As a psychotherapist and scientist, my goal is to apply existing knowledge in my treatment and to generate new knowledge. I am interested in topics such as loneliness, grief, emotion regulation and interpersonal perception in interactions with others.

 

Therapies

  • Individual therapy

    In individual therapy, sessions take place only with the therapist. Sometimes it may be appropriate to bring a family member to individual therapy sessions. The sessions usually take place once a week and last 50 minutes. Depending on the indication, therapy comprises up to 24 sessions (short-term therapy) or up to 60 sessions (long-term therapy).

  • Couples therapy

    In couples therapy, you as a couple are at the center of the therapy. At the beginning, it may be helpful to have one or two individual sessions as well. Couples therapy can help to change rigid patterns in the relationships, clarify difficult issues, or navigate through challenging situations. Couples therapy usually lasts 10-15 sessions.

  • Group therapy

    In group therapy, therapy takes place in groups of 3 to 9 participants. The focus of the group sessions is either a shared topic or a similar psychological diagnosis. Group therapy takes place in 8-12 sessions of each 100 minutes per week. If you are interested, please ask for groups that are currently taking place.

Costs

Although I have a license to practice as a psychological psychotherapist, I cannot bill the public health insurance companies directly. However, in many cases there is the possibility of having psychotherapy covered by the health insurance companies through the so-called cost reimbursement procedure (“Kostenerstattungsverfahren”). The costs of psychotherapy are usually covered by private health insurances, the Beihilfe, the Freie Heilfürsorge, Berufsgenossenschaften, the Bundeswehr and the Bundespolizei.
